'Sid' is the story of a prisoner who dreams of sunny paradise from his cold cell. On one fateful night, he makes a break for it, but the outside world doesn't make escape easy for him.

Here's the first draft in its entirety.

I went through a lot of trial-and-error to get to a finished version of 'Sid'. It was a long slog, but it taught me everything I know about failure and perseverance - somewhat mirrored in the story itself.

I wanted to make a book in a similar style to one of my heroes, Raymond Briggs - writer/illustrator of 'Father Christmas', 'The Snowman', 'The Bear' and many others. I still prefer to work in traditional media (charcoal/watercolour), with all the human, wonky textures on full display.
