Misc. projects
Featured on this page are a few short-lived projects and a few ideas which I may return to later.

'Chancer':
Character Design
A short project to test the stages of pre-production on an animated film. The result was Chancer - a cocky reindeer trickster operating in Victorian London.

'Chancer': Storyboards
Continuing with my little reindeer's story, here I am focusing on just one scene. I first drew up rough pencil storyboards and then worked on a more polished set, using conté on paper and digital colouring.

In the scene, Chancer is thrown into the brig of a pirate ship, where he is mocked by the crew. The odious Captain Belch gloats as Chancer stands defiantly against his captors.

'Sputter':
The Pigeon-Dragon
A looping GIF project, developed from observing pigeons from life.

I played with the idea that maybe there once really was a 'dragon', but in reality it was just a mutated pigeon whose legend was inflated in each retelling.

The Pub's Face
Something from the sketchbook, based on a quick observational drawing of The Lord Nelson in my hometown of Ipswich.
I had been looking for inanimate objects to bring life to, and started to see facial features in architecture too, particularly older buildings. Maybe I will return to this as a short film idea.
